The tunnel goes through Delft and runs through some monumental or steel-built houses. This places high demands on the construction method and the skill with which it is executed. For the most part of the construction of the railway tunnel, use is made of the 'cut-and-cover' method ', in combination with diaphragm walls. This is a vibration and low noise construction method. Moreover, there is relatively little space required and the construction site is fairly quickly closed again.

Some places of the tunnel route not lend themselves to the construction of diaphragm walls, as at the tunnel mouths. And through open water, for example, as in the Bolwerk. the piling technique is used in those places. The southern section of the tunnel between the Princess Irene tunnel and the tunnel mouth at Prysmian, built with sheet piling.

For placement of the internal facilities (flooring and walls)  Bomecon's C-hook in combination with two types of lifting beams will be used. For placement at the locations with the sheet piling walls, a machine with a bend lifting beam, will be used.
